Bedford Wheelchair Racing, a section of Bedford and County Athletic Club, has been selected to take part in a Tesco In-store Vote.  When customers make any transaction in any one of the stores in the Bedford area – Super stores, Extra and Express – they will be given a token which they can cast for Bedford Wheelchair Racing. Voting will commence in the stores on Tuesday 28th April and close at the end of July.

The sport, which offers wheelchair racing for individuals with physical disabilities, is extremely expensive.  A racing chair, for example, costs at least £6000, a pair of suitable gloves - £200.  For training in inclement weather, warm-ups before races and general fitness and technique improvements, two sets of rollers are required.  These cost £1000 each and so winning the Tesco vote would provide £1500 towards the costs of the rollers.

Bedford Wheelchair Racing is a very successful club providing for physically disabled members from 7 years old upwards with one member achieving the club’s first international ‘cap’, representing England in a Grand Prix in Switzerland last year.

Please make a note to vote for Bedford Wheelchair Racing when you shop at Tesco between the 28th April and the end of July.
