There have been some outstanding results from our junior throwers as the 2026 season draws to a close.

Representing Bedfordshire at the Southern Inter-Counties Match, Holder Botha produced two excellent personal bests. He improved his discus PB by a huge three metres, recording a very impressive 41.52m. At the same meeting, he extended his shot put best to 11.82m.

At the annual Ron Bowden Memorial Hammer Competition at Woodford Green, Mia Flynn and Bismarck Botha claimed victory in their respective age groups.

Mia returned to her early-season form with an excellent throw of 53.26m to win the U16 girls’ competition. Her victory earned her a nearly new 4kg competition hammer, which had been used at the recent European Championships in Birmingham.

Not to be outdone, Holder’s younger brother, Bismarck, produced a remarkable performance in his very first hammer competition. He threw beyond 31 metres to win the U12 event—and took home a brand-new hammer as his prize.

A fantastic set of results to bring the 2026 season to a close and provide plenty of momentum heading into a strong winter of training.
