Sprinter Jasmine Wilkins, presently studying at Birmingham University, has been selected to represent her uni at the prestigious Ivy League series of competitions in America next April.
The trip will involve at least two competitions spread over a two week period, the trip also includes a few days for sight seeing in New York and Boston and visits to the Ivy League Universities.
This selection is all most unprecedented for a fresher student in her first semester.
The uni have noted the hard work put in by Jasmine both in training and in coaching the academy kids. Jasmine really excels when talking to and coaching the youngsters both in Birmingham and at the track in Bedford. Jasmine is like a sponge when it comes to sprint talk and information, and she can put things over in a way that many struggle to do.
This news is particularly good because for the last 18 months Jasmine has been struggling with a hip injury which has had to be managed very carefully running at no where near her full potential , hope fully now that is behind her , thanks must go to Mark Buckingham and his knowledge and healing hands and also to Jack Goodwin for his introductions - thanks Jack!
Remaining fit is, of course, imperative, but hopefully the corner has been turned the last 18 months have been awkward to say the least, many would have walked away, but fortunately Jasmine did not, showing great strength of character.
