We have now completed our affiliations to Track and Field leagues for 2025 and the fixture list is taking shape.
Seniors
The focus for the club this season for senior athletes will be the Southern Athletics League (SAL). This means that we get a home fixture, plus a further local match at Sandy, with the other two fixtures being at Colchester. This league also gives an opportunity to our U17 athletes, as the minimum age for this league is 15 as of 31/8/25. It has also historically proven to provide good competition for our masters athletes.
We have not affiliated to the National Athletics League this year, as in recent years we have found that the travel distances involved have meant that we have struggled to get teams out. We will, though, obviously support any of our senior athletes who wish to compete for NAL clubs as Higher Claim Athletes.
Juniors
Our main focus for the juniors will once again be the Eastern Young Athletes League (EYAL), with matches at Norwich, Ware, Stevenage and Bedford. This provides competition for U13, U15 and U17 age groups. The league also has a reasonably flexible policy with regards to non-scoring athletes, so we can often offer competition to more athletes than just the standard two per event match allocation.
We have not affiliated to the YDL for 2025, as again the travel distances led to reduced support, and the event has a lengthy timetable and limited opportunity for non-scorers. We will be offering support by way of subsidised entry for our athletes in the affected age groups (U13 and U15) who wish to compete at the County Open event at Bedford in April, the County Championships (also at Bedford in May) and the Eastern Championships (Cambridge in July). More information will follow nearer the time.
Masters
As in recent years, masters athletes (aged 35 or above) will have the opportunity to compete and represent the club at the Eastern Masters League (EMAC).
