Bedford and County AC took on the wind and rain of Storm Amy when they travelled to the National Road Relay Champs at Sutton Park in Birmingham, with each team giving their all in a brilliantly rewarding day in the West Midlands. The most notable of results included top 10 finishes for: the Under 15 Boys A in 5th and the Senior Women A in 10th.
Under 13 Girls
Bedford fielded 3 teams in the Under 13 Girls finishing in 24th, 29th, and 48th overall, with the A team having a blistering time of 48:59. Only finishing a few minutes behind the winners.
Under 13 Boys
One team was entered for the Under 13 Boys, with them coming back in a respectable 21st in a time of 45:03.
Under 15 Boys
Definitely the pick of the day, the Under 15 Boys finished two teams. The A team were a fantastic 5th, only 21 seconds away from a medal. The B team came home in 32nd, with a time of 41:21.
Under 17 Women
A single, but strong team was entered in the Under 17 Women, they valiantly fought for a tremendous 22nd considering the adverse weather conditions.
Under 17 Men
1 team was fielded in the Under 17 Men, who finished 53rd in just over 40 minutes. With the first leg runner achieving an excellent time of 12:09, sending the second runner out in 16th position.
Senior Women
The Women’s A team impressively secured a 10th place finish in a time of 1:18:35, while the B team also finished strongly in a time of 1:26:38 in 29th place.
Senior Men
The Senior Men’s A Team narrowly missed out on a 10th place finish by mere seconds, having a time of 1:40:10. The B team came home in 1:48:54, placing 54th out of 76.
