Eastern Young Athletes League Match 3 – 15th June

Our youngest athletes travelled to Stevenage on the 15^th June for our 3^rd EYAL match. We scored 650 points – the most we have scored since before COVID! We came away with 65 PBs (boys 33, girls 32) and 8 SBs (boys 2, girls 6). We are now 10^th in the league after 3 matches with a home match to come. Being in 10^th means we currently qualify for the Plate Final on 07^th September.

Bedfordshire 10K 20th June 2025

Well done to everyone who ran in the Bedfordshire 10k yesterday, it was a hot one!

Bedford & County had great success winning both 1st men’s team and 1st women’s team.

Bedford & County win fastest team at the Greensand Ridge Relay

Bedford & County won the fastest mixed team at the Greensand Ridge Relay yesterday and came third overall in the handicap race.

Team of Ewan Wilson, Natasha Peters-Cooper, Alice Lambert, Andy Blair, Henry Taylor and Helen Buller in a time of 3:58:47 over 34 miles of trail running from Leighton Buzzard to Northill.

Well done to everyone that ran.

Club record for Mia

Congratulations to Mia Flynn on her win at the SEAA U15 Championships at the weekend with a new U15 hammer club record of 45.72m.

Marston 5k

Bedford & County had a successful evening at the Marston 5k on Friday, picking up lots of trophies.

Bedford & County Juniors collect 3 podium finishes at the South of England U13, U15 & U17 Championships 7th & 8th June at Crystal Palace

Eight of the club’s junior athletes took part in the South of England Championships this weekend and came away with 3 medals and 5 PBs.

Alex and Rosemary present their 2025 bursary to Lola and Eliza

Alex and Rosemary presented their bursary for this year to Lola N and Eliza G for their commitment to training, eagerness to compete and showing strong team spirit.

Bank Holiday Events at Chelmsford

Three Bedford and County athletes competed in high quality fests at Chelmsford over the bank holiday weekend.

On Saturday Thaila-Jade Mason set a lifetime best of 15.28sec in the 100m hurdles at the Bruce Longden Hurdles Fest and then followed it up on Monday with a season's best of 5.85m long jump at the Biggish Field Events meeting.

Meanwhile also at the Biggish meeting, High Jumper Gracie Wall was just 1 centimetre off her season's best with 1.64m while training partner Zaphaniah Bryan cleared 1.92m for his second highest jump of the year.

Eastern Young Athletes League Match 2 – 18th May at Ware

The youngest athletes in the club travelled to Ware on Sunday 18^th May for another tough match. The weather started cool with the sun coming out in the afternoon. We came away with a total of 92 PBs, 50 for the girls and 42 for the boys.

Tom selected to play in European Champions Cup Final

Congratulations to Tom Litchfield who was selected to play for Northampton Saints in yesterday’s European Champions cup final v Bordeaux.

Tom was a Bedford and County AC club stalwart representing our junior teams all the way from U13 through to U20, across most events. His main specialism was as a hammer thrower, for which he represented Bedfordshire at the ESAA champs.

Medals at the BMAF Throws Pentathlon

Yesterday, the British Masters Athletics Federations'(BMAF) Throws Pentathlon took place at Horspath Track - Oxford.

Darren Kerr won gold in the Men's 55 year old category in a very close and high quality competition, beating some very accomplished throwers.

Graeme Packman was also competing in the Men's 70 year old category and won a bronze medal.

The Throws Pentathlon consists of the hammer, shot, discus, Javelin and heavy weight with performances in each being turned into a points score and aggregated across the 5 events.
