A cool, damp Saturday saw 10 U13/U15 girls travel to Tooting Bec to compete in the last YDL match of the season. Although we were already relegated the girls put in a sterling effort with 9 PBs and 1 SB.
We took 9 athletes down to Tooting Bec for the final match of the YDL league. Despite the rain on Saturday, the boys team showed some great individual performances. Well done to the following athletes who achieved PB’s:

Congratulations to John Eves, who has broken two M40 club records recently. John's new marks are 8:43.61 for the 3000m, set at Watford on 28th June, and 15:07.21 for the 5000m, set at Finsbury Park on 21st July.
Congratulations to Raph Boujou and Thaila-Jade Mason, who have both broken club records recently. Raph improved his own Senior Men's 100m record to 10.01 seconds at the European Under 23 Championships in Finland on 13th July, whilst Thaila-Jade improved the Under 17 Women's Long Jump record to 6.00 metres at the Schools International in Grangemouth on 15th July.
A talented trio of Bedford & County athletes claimed four silver medals between them in international competition last weekend.
Pride of place must go to Life Member Raphael Boujou, who was competing in the European Under 23 Championships for Holland where he now resides.
Round 3 of the SAL took place in Bedford on Sunday 9th July. With a stronger than usual turnout, the club finished a close third in the Division 3 North fixture. There were wins for:
There were some good performances at the Watford Open Meeting on 12th July.
Jack Goodwin set a new 1500m PB of 3:49.61 with a strong run the BMC A Race.
In the open meeting at Watford, Ben Alcock was not far off his PB in winning the 3000m with a time of 8:18.04.
Meanwhile, in Birmingham, Ed Blythman won the fastest open 1500m race of the evening in a new PB of 3:55.67.
