Congratulations to Jasmine Wilkins, who set a Senior Women's and Under 20 Women's club 100m record of 11.60 seconds whilst running at the UCONN Northeast Challenge meeting in the United States on 13th April. Jasmine's time currently puts her in the UK Top 10 for the event. Well done Jasmine!
There was a great run from Jasmine Wilkins last weekend. During a Birmingham University trip to the United States, Jasmine clocked an 11.78 second 100m at the Penn Invitational event on 6th April at Franklin Field, Pennsylvania. This is one of the fastest times run by a British woman so far this season. Well done Jasmine!
There was a good result at the National Twelve Stage Road Relays at Sutton Park on Saturday 6th April for the Senior Men, who finished ninth, with Jack Goodwin (26:04) running the joint sixth fastest long leg of the day, and Ben Davies (15:27) the tenth fastest short leg.
Congratulations to Edith Caux and Jemma Eastwood, who have both broken club indoor records recently. Jemma set a new W45 record of 3.32 metres for the Pole Vault in the European Masters Championships in Tourn, Poland on 20th March. At the same event, Edith bettered both her W65 200m record and her W65 400m record. Edith's new marks are 74.12 seconds and 32.11 seconds respectively.
The NAL have changed the venue for our first two fixture of 2024. The first fixture on 1st June is now at Nottingham, and the second fixture on 22nd June is now at Leigh.
Congratulations to John Eves, who set a new club M40 20 mile road best of 1:49:29 in the Essex 20 on 17th March.
A contingent of Bedford and County athletes were highly successful at the European Masters Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland held between 17th and 23rd March, with many exceptional medal winning performances being recorded:
The Men's A Team finished just outside the medals in fourth place at the Southern 12 stage road relays at a windy Milton Keynes on Sunday 24th March, having led in the early stages of the race. In a committed team performance, Jack Goodwin's 25:40 was the fastest long leg of the day, and Noah Campion's 14:54 was the fourth fastest short leg. The B team came in a very commendable 26th.
There were also some great results in the Under 15 and Under 17 championships - see below for those.
